How we build our boats: from aluminium sheet to first launch
Marine-grade aluminium, a fully welded hull, buoyancy chambers without foam and paint made to order. What goes into a Tangiri boat and why.
- Construction
There are plenty of aluminium boats on the market and from the outside many look alike. The differences are where nobody looks in a showroom: the material, the joints, under the deck and inside the buoyancy chambers. This is how we do it.
Material: marine-grade aluminium
Tangiri hulls are made from HYDRO 5083 H111 marine-grade aluminium sheet. Plate thickness is 3 mm, and 3 and 4 mm on the Trion, our largest boats. The 5083 alloy is made to work in water, salt water included.
Hull and deck fully welded
The hull is fully welded, not bolted. So is the deck: all aluminium and welded, with no plywood. There is no wood to soak up water over the years and no bolted joints to tighten and reseal.
We give a 5-year warranty on the welds, the load-bearing structure and the watertightness of the hull. The warranty passes to the next owner for the remaining period.
Buoyancy chambers
We fill the buoyancy chambers with composite buoyancy balls. Not foam, and not the plastic bottles you find in cheaper boats.
Finish and ready for your kit
The outside of the hull is painted. You choose the colour from the RAL range, and we design the side graphics for your order and show them on a visualisation before the boat goes to the paint shop.
Inside: marine carpet, a vinyl floor and micro-rubber lining in the storage lockers. Each boat comes prepared for fishfinders, with a transducer mount, and for an electric motor. The full list of standard equipment is on every model page.

Handover and first launch
A standard configuration usually takes a few weeks from confirming the specification; we give the exact date in the quote. We fit the engine and do the first launch ourselves. The boat leaves with its documentation and declaration of conformity.
